NMNM loan for the exhibition at the Grand Palais (Paris) “Of Toys and Men”

The New National Museum of Monaco has lent five pieces belonging to the Galea Collection to the Réunion des Musées Nationaux (RMN) for the new exhibition entitled "Toys and Men" which is being held in the Galleries of the Grand Palais in Paris from 14th September 2011 to 28th January 2012.

Some of the works on loan for this exhibition include emblematic dolls from the Collection, such as the famous ROCHARD doll of which very few specimens remain in the world and which wears a necklace embedded with glass pearls showing fifteen or so views illustrating the city of Paris. Other exhibits include a beautiful baby doll produced by the distinguished BRU company, a JUMEAU “lioretgraph” system baby, a beautiful fashion doll by BARROIS, as well as an automated doll, Gustave VICHY’s moon Pierrot.

The exhibition run by the RMN-Grand Palais in conjunction with the Musée des Arts décoratifs and co-organised by the Helsinki Art Museum is focused on the history of toys. It features a collection dating back from antiquity to the modern day and is a wonderful opportunity to discover exceptional creations.

The exhibition is managed by Pierrick Sorin, video director and artist, with the support of Emily Nirlo.
