Meeting of the Commission responsible for local issues concerning Cross-border Cooperation between Monaco and the French Republic


The Commission responsible for local issues concerning cross-border cooperation between Monaco and France, instituted by the Commission on French Monegasque Cooperation on 31st January 2005, met for the third time on Friday 6th February 2009 in Nice to discuss issues of mutual interest between Monaco and France.

The Commission was presided over by Mr Jean-Paul Proust, Minister of State who represented Monaco, and co-presided over, representing France, by Mr Francis Lamy, Prefect of the Maritime Alps and Mrs Odile Remik, the French Ambassador to Monaco.

The French Delegation consisted of Mr Eric Ciotti, President of the General Council, Mr Christian Estrosi, President of the Urban Community Nice Côte d’Azur, Mr Jean-Claude Guibal, Deputy Mayor of Menton, Mr Patrick Cesari, President of the French Riviera Conurbation Committee in addition to Messrs Gérard Spinelli, Xavier Beck and Nicolas Bassani, Mayors of Beausoleil, Cap d'Ail and la Turbie.

During the meeting which was followed by a working lunch, various issues were discussed: the Var Plain national interest operation, the economic situation, the Cruella project, housing for the working population, the development of partnerships within the field of biomedical research, electrical safety, household waste, marine pollution, the framework partnership agreement between the Principality, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Parc National du Mercantour and Parco Naturale Alpi Marittimi.
