Paris Book Fair – 26th to 31st March 2010
For the first time in its history, the Prince Pierre of Monaco Foundation is taking part in the Paris Book Fair, at the Rocher Publishers’ stand.
For many years, the Prince Pierre of Monaco Foundation and Rocher Publishers have worked together for the prestigious Literary Prize awarded by the Foundation.
In 1993 this collaboration resulted in the publication of two books, one by the winner and the second chosen and prefaced by the latter on the occasion of each prizewinning event.
Since 2007, such cooperation has taken on a new form: during the announcement of the awards in the Principality, Rocher Publishers release translations of majors works from foreign literature.
In 2010, the principle of the translations is being maintained but Rocher Publishers are focusing on the great classics of literary heritage.
On the occasion of the Book Fair, the Prince Pierre Foundation will be meeting members of the Literary Panel of Judges and award winners at the stand, who will come and talk about their news. The Foundation will also reveal the name of the book to be published by Rocher Publishers during the announcement of the awards in Monaco on Tuesday 28th September 2010.
The Prince Pierre of Monaco’s Literary Award was created in 1951 by Prince Pierre of Monaco and is presented to a French-language writer for his/her entire work.
The “Bourse de la Découverte”, created in 2001 for the 50th anniversary of the Literary Award, is awarded to a young French writer for his/her first work of fiction.
The purpose of the Prince Pierre Foundation, established on 17th February 1966 by H.S.H. Prince Rainier III, in tribute to the memory of his Father, is to foster contemporary creativity. Every year it presents awards given by three councils: literary, music and art.
