H.E. the Minister of State received representatives of the press today, following the remarks made by the Editor-in-Chief of L'Express, Christophe Barbier, during the programme "C dans l'air" broadcast on France 5, on Wednesday 20th July 2011.
Reflecting the “emotion of the Monegasque community and also of the residents of the Principality", he stressed the unacceptable nature of such remarks "which go against the relationship of friendship and cooperation between the Principality of Monaco and the French Republic”.
H.E. Mr Roger wished to point out that “Monaco is an independent and sovereign State, recognised for many years by the International Community”.
Moreover, H.E. the Minister of State confirmed that the Sovereign Prince and Princess Charlene are taking legal action against the Express for violation of privacy and the dissemination of untrue information following the false and unfounded allegations broadcast on its website.
H.E. Mr Michel Roger received Cécile Agniel (AFP), Joëlle Deviras (Monaco Matin) and Jean-Christophe Dimino (Monaco Info) in his office at the Ministry of State this morning.
